One of the coolest upgrades we have done to our trailer is bring it into the 21st century by changing out our analog thermostat to a Micro-Air EasyTouch Smart thermostat.. By doing so, we have reduced the lag temperature (degree difference between shutting off and turning on the heat/AC system) and best of all added wifi/bluetooth control so we can monitor and control from anywhere we have wifi reception. Combining this with our Starlink system in the trailer, means that we can monitor and control the heating/cooling system from anywhere in the world. So, in reality, during our 7 month circle the USA trip, we plan on parking the truck and trailer on the east coast, fly home for Thanksgiving, and then fly back to continue our trip. While at home we can monitor and adjust the system to outside temperatures. If it is going to freeze, we will turn on the heat, which means saving propane and only using when needed. We don't have the ability to run AC system while gone because we do not have 110v power or an inverter to provide 110 volt operation, but the middle to end of November should not be a problem. The rest of the heating runs on 12 volts and propane, so the solar system will handle it easy peasy! You've heard of Smart Homes, welcome to Smart RV's...
